Meet the Administrator

Santiago Oquendo Toro is the administrator of NMS Healthcare of Springbrook. Santiago joined NMS Healthcare in 2011 as Physical Therapist and through hard work and determination he excelled on all levels and was given a promotion to become the Rehabilitation Manager at NMS Healthcare of Springbrook. During this time, Santiago developed his leadership style and developed a dynamic team of dedicated therapists who always strived to provide the best patient care experience.

Santiago continued his professional career as he enrolled and became an Administrator in Training (AIT). He performed these duties at NMS Healthcare of Hyattsville, a 270-bed facility. During this time, Santiago pursued his dreams and began his studies for his transitional doctorate degree in Physical Therapy and graduated as tDPT on May of 2016. Santiago received his Physical Therapy degree from Universidad CES in 2010, Medellin, Colombia.

In November of 2016, Santiago was promoted to Administrator of NMS Healthcare of Springbrook, a 93-bed facility that provides post-acute care, rehabilitation services, transitional care, pain management, hospice care, on-campus dialysis, IV therapy and complex wound care.

Our interdisciplinary team includes:
Board Certified Medical Directors, Pulmonologists, Vascular Surgeons, Wound Care Physicians, Pain Management Physicians, Nephrologists, Physiatrists, Podiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Case Managers, Registered Nurses, Hospice Nurses, Dietitians, Respiratory Therapists, Rehabilitation Therapists, Social Workers, Certified Activities Consultants and Geriatric Nurse Assistants.

Transitional Care

Our unique care program facilitates residents’ successful transition from the hospital to the next setting. The program is designed to promote independence, despite the challenges of injury, illness or post-surgical recovery. It features stepping stones and clinical pathways designed in collaboration with home health providers.

Joint Replacement Rehabilitation

Our physical therapy team focuses on the restoration of function, improvement of strength, endurance, flexibility, pain management and pre- and post-surgical care. Surgeons and in-house physicians coordinate care across disciplines through ongoing communication.

Pain Management

Following a comprehensive pain assessment, our highly-trained physicians best meet the needs of residents by developing an individualized treatment plan that addresses chronic pain and discomfort. Our treatments are evidence-based and bring together appropriate therapeutic approaches to reduce pain and achieve optimal health and healing.

Renal Care & On-Campus Dialysis

Our Renal Program helps patients with CKD (at any stage of kidney function), manage complications such as high blood pressure, anemia, weak bones and increased risk of heart and blood vessel disease. The Dialysis Center offers excellent care for inpatients with ESRD. Our senior management team includes in-house nephrologists and clinicians who have worked in a variety of healthcare segments during their careers, including many years of service to dialysis patients.
